Get started with solar

There's a lot to consider when installing solar power in your home for the first time, so it’s important to learn about the installation process.

The Australian Government’s Solar Consumer Guide offers helpful information about the steps involved in installing rooftop solar.

The Clean Energy Council’s New Energy Tech Consumer Code (NETCC) website provides a number of consumer guides aimed at helping you make an informed decision about buying and installing a new solar photovoltaic (PV) system. It includes information about:

  • how solar power works
  • choosing the best solar system for your needs
  • finding a NETCC approved seller
  • finding an accredited solar retailer or installer
  • connecting your solar to the grid
  • accessing a feed-in tariff for solar exports
  • system maintenance and servicing.

Solar installers must now be accredited by Solar Accreditation Australia (SAA). The Solar Accreditation Australia website allows consumers to check the accreditation status of a solar installer and find information about complaints and reporting non-compliance.
